OVERVIEW

Archistar creates cutting-edge technology that revolutionises the way property professionals plan, design, build, and sell. They leverage parametric and generative design principles as well as data from Australia’s best property data partners. While their technology and solutions evolve, their mission remains the same; to empower everyone to make confident and compliant property decisions through data, AI and user-friendly platforms.

Data Army was engaged to design and implement a geospatial data platform to retrieve, load and conform the data that supports the Archistar solutions.

BUSINESS CHALLENGES

Archistar outlined the following business objectives at the start of the project:

  • Be cost-efficient to operate, with a pay-for-use model,
  • Be cloud native,
  • Be able to scale and grow with the business’s global expansion,
  • Handle complex geospatial data, and
  • Provide detailed oversight and reporting of day-to-day data operations.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

In close collaboration and development with Archistar, Data Army implemented a scalable and robust solution using AWS serverless compute and storage, dbt, and Snowflake, which is cost-effective to operate but scales to handle thousands of data sets from around the world. Outcomes include:

  • Reduced time to load and integrate data sets
  • Greater visibility of Extract Load Transform (ELT) processes through logging and reporting
  • Infrastructure cost reductions
  • New sales channel established on the Snowflake Marketplace
  • Increased data governance

THE DATA ARMY SOLUTION

Data Army’s solution leverages a Lakehouse Architecture to obtain the scale and compute required by Archistar to service their customers. The Lakehouse is cloud-native, and uses managed services where possible to remove undifferentiated heavy lifting.
